Crochet Dreams

I don't remember where or when I got this,,probably an estate sale in Oregon...I have had it a long time,(it's 40") it was a mess, so I finally got around to pressing and repairing it, trying not to alter it too much. It is on a soft linen with pulled threads. I wonder about the woman who made it,, what Her Dreams were,,,do you think it was it a sampler for her own records,....hummm...
I like to think she would be Glad someone appreciated it.

It is laying on my Great Grandmothers Quilt that means so much to me.

I might have to make one of my own, I don't crochet, yet, but I won't let that stop me.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

Mornin Marcie!!
A retired co-worker of my husband's called him telling him she had a cedar chest of doilies and tablecloths made from her mom and grandmother and would his wife be interested? (She told him she reads my blog every day and thought I'd appreciate them) He brought them home a couple of days ago... 2 GORGEOUS crochet tablecloths, one round (for the breakfast table) and one rectangular (for the formal table) and beautiful doiles!OH! I felt so blessed and honored to be given such precious heirlooms! I cannot wait to blog about it!!
We are so like-minded...I love that I know you understand me..and I understand you!!
What beautiful and precious pieces you have!
Have a lovely weekend!
Blessings!

Thanks for this great post Marcie! Not only were the photos wonderful but you have given me a wonderful idea about how to use all the bits of crochet I have been given over the years by people. I have boxes of my grandmother's and great grandmother's work, a great aunt's work and recently the aunt of a friend left me her sewing things which included many crocheted pieces. What a fabulous way to display them and keep them safe but also seen in the home!

Hello sweet Marcie,
You always share the most beautiful photos of the most beautiful things! I love the crochet little hanger and I love the crochet! What a wonderful treasure! I wonder about her too! It does look like a sampler of her beautiful work doesn't it! I know she would be happy to know how much you appreciate it! That is a lot of work! Your grandmother's quilt is beautiful! I can see the love and time she put into it. How you must treasure it!

I think it is wonderful you will learn to crochet. My mom crochets beautifully and I need to have her teach me how to.

I hope your weekend is beautiful dear friend! Love you, Paula

What a beautiful piece of work. I think often of the hands who have made the items I love - we pass a little bit of ourselves on with every creation, don't we?

What a gorgeous way to display so many different crochet laces. Your great grandmother's quilt is beautiful, is it a log cabin quilt?

Very lovely! On the list of favorite things - maybe it is the idea of the hands that made/touched them that adds to the warmth, but they are a feel good treasure.

Marcie, this is beautiful work. Is it used for a neck scarf? If so, I'm sure it would get enormous compliments if you were to wear it. Such a lovely idea! I hope you don't mind if I take it for myself to make something similar!! With all of the laces I have just waiting for a project....
Thank you for the inspiration!
Hugs, Diane
