Photo Collage from the 1800's

Yes, again, the art started long ago.
The Victorians had more time on their hands, and were some of the first to play with scrapbooking and collage, using old photos.
I wonder what they would have done with Photoshop???

There are many  albums from the 1800's on line at museums. The research I did was mostly at The Art Institute of Chicago.

So many more pages from the 1800's to enjoy.
Not copyright free, but very inspirational.
Have a nice weekend!

Lovin' your stuff Marcie! I agree about the Victorians. I have an old scrap book that I purchased in Round Top & some of the pictures/illustrations are downright bazaar! I think that's why I love them so. The humor was strange too. I'll bet they would have loved Monty Python. Lisa

Oh Marcie, what lovely images...your world is truly appealing and reminds me so much of my grandmother's world. She lived in a beautiful Victorian home in Old Los Angeles. These photos remind me of her. Thank you Marcie, for coming to visit me and support my thesis! WHAT GREAT PEOPLE YOU ALL ARE! Bisous, Anita

Oh! Those ladies in Victorian times would have done marvelous things with Photoshop! Can you imagine it!
They never DREAMED of such treasures at their fingertips!

Nor did I 10 short years ago.....
