Gifts from Nature
Thunderstorms can be dangerous for some. Odd thing is, when I found this nest and lifted it up, many more broken blue shells were directly under it.
We went to the river at sunset, I needed a water fix. I also just new there was a show of some kind there. It poured and hailed on the 10 min drive. Looking to the west was the sun. To the east was the clouds. Such a color difference!

Easy Paper Flowers
The color possibilities are endless.
The Duck Walking West is another of my Folksy Rustic side. Click for flower patterns:
I used Netty LaCroix paper with a black velvet fabric center . I kept it simple and made one layer of papers. The chickens are going to get framed one of these days. Here is where you can get amazing papers by Netty.

Sunday Drive Part Two
Is that a distrustful bobcat or what! The goods in the windows reminded me of the Needfull Things story,,by Steven King. I have to go back. I wonder if the 100 dollar bill is real? Or maybe it disappears as soon as you walk in.
A vintage clothing store below looks very kewl. I want to go in there too.
Old things, and new things, in the shop windows.
It's getting time for lunch, or dinner, as they say in the south.

Now you know where we were on Sunday. Well, for a short time anyhow.
The South has many small towns with Historic Town Squares. In the center is the City Hall, and small shops surround it. Sunday is the best time to photograph there, as nothing is open, usually. The photo of City Hall did not show up as I probably reached my limit of space for this post. You can see it above, in the reflection . The buildings are like this all around the square. You are in Shelbyville TN. It is a nice place to visit. We saved some $ going on a Sunday. Husband is happy.
They have potted plants on the sidewalks to welcome you.
On the way we stopped at a little store for something to drink. My husband went in, and, as I waited for him , I looked down and saw what I thought looked like a little house. Enlarge the picture below, just about dead center, to see what it really is.

Lovely day for a duck dance. Put your right foot in, put your right foot out, & swing it all about....
The goats were happy too.
There were lots of Tennessee Walking Horse ranches. This was on the way back,,,note to self,,,"In the future, when asking my Southern Gentleman to stop every mile or so to take pictures,,,do it in the "beginning" of the day."
But it was the end of an 8 hour day, so, I do understand, he just wanted to get back. And..he doesn't blog...doesn't know the plan in my head. I mean, it's just too hard to explain. We went other places and it "was" one very fine day,,,, and I have more to show,,,, but I need to get to the chores, as it is noon already. Have a great Monday.

Sunday Drive
It was such a nice day, we went for a drive, and as I am usually in need of a water fix, we went to the Tennessee River.
It is the closest thing to the ocean that is available, and holds its own treasures. Like the shells. They were abundant here, I about passed out a couple of times picking some up, I don't need any more shells, but I cant resist. It reminded me of the many times we searched for shells on the ocean beach. We walked the river a bit and enjoyed poking around and, telling stories. We also went to a couple of our favorite backwater fishing holes to see what was going on. Watching a big bass jumping out of the water catching bugs is good entertainment, the noises of nature are pretty special too. It makes me wish I had a video recorder. We watched an ant moving something bigger that himself for a long time. To be quiet with my man and observe together. I loved it.
I cannot resist looking at horses, they are such amazing animals.

Creamy Houses,Creamy Trees, Good Planning
To appreciate this picture, enlarge it, as I could not for the life of me, get a good color shot, or the right light. Sometimes life is kind of like that, try as we might, it just isn't meant to be like we envisioned. The blooms will be over soon, so that was my only shot. To those of you who do not have the abundance of the flowering Bradford Pear, it's a wonderful tree. This housing development has them on every street. Good planning.
A Book of Folk Art Fun
A thoughtful gift. Thank you my friend. Now what will I make???
This book is full of fun 19th century-inspired primitive projects for your home. It was given to me by my longest friend, Joan. You can find Maggie Bonanomi on www.amazon.com. I love the decorating ideas, I still have one foot in folk art. I think I always will be a bit rustic.

White Mini Carnations Do Not Give Up Easily
MOstly my favorite flower is the Carnation, in "white" with baby's breath. The mini size seems to have the best scent, and they last a long time...I have had these since Valentines.
I have been cutting the stems each day and giving them fresh water. As the blooms started to show brown, I cut them and let them dry on the fridge in a box lid. A crocheted collar helps of course. They were a 16" arrangement, now, half that size, but I am still sniffing them to the bitter end. Soon I will have a dried flowers to play with. They do not give up pleasing me.

Inspired by Color
I was inspired by a another blog to put together some treasures in a pallet of color, one of my favorites. The wonderful blog is
"Dream In Cream", http://dreamincream.blogspot.com/
You will not be disappointed, and you "will" be entertained by wonderful eye candy and humor.
This was fun to get together a bunch of cream color small things in a group. I started with a dolls wardrobe trunk. Hauled it to the bathroom,,,as that window is the best light, and gathered the goodies,,it was fun. I could do this sort of thing all week. It was a good exercise in color sense as well. I may have to do it again in another color pallet. I'm thinking of antique royal colors,,or gold,,or........hummmm.
