60 mile Blessing

On the 60 mile drive to my root canal, I was nervous, but there we were,, 6am,, on the road. I was finally confronting a much needed procedure, one that I had canceled more than once...for "better times". I don't really hate going to the dentist as a rule, but I admit I "was" nervous,,,then we saw a rainbow,,and I decided it was a good sign. We got there too early and drove along a large lake. While looking at the beautiful lake houses, we rounded a corner and saw this waterfall. Another good sign. I decided I would focus on this image while I was in the chair, a visual meditation if you will. I also added Angels, a bubble of white light of God's love, and later thanked him for the one who invented Novocaine. It helped that the new dentist was a cutiepatootee, with small hands, and hummed some song softly while he worked....and said "Perfect" allot. On the 60 mile return trip, I thought about how I loose control of my mind, and what better words could they come up with than Root Canal, as it can conjure some unpleasant images. But its over, not a big deal at all,,,,and I Choose to remember the blessings in the 60 miles.

Well Marcie, as a dental assistant years ago...I would have added you to my "good patient" list!

Not too many people come in with the frame of mind that you had this morning.

(Maybe everyone should take your route to the dentist office!!!)

Have a great weekend and hope you have no pain or discomfort when the Novocaine wears off.

Marci, I have never heard anyone describe their "trip" to route canal before but I wanta' go there IF I ever have any work done! Thank you for this lovely post. The worry ahead of time is most often worse than the procedure. It is all in attitudes...sharon
