1950's The Traveling Salesmen And The Pony

It was the mid 1950's when the people would bring their pony, costume's, and camera to the suburb's, going door to door selling Polaroid's of children as cowgirls and cowboys. Ingenious, and only in America. My sister Melodie is the first photo, she remembers. I do not. As you can see I was afraid, and someone was kneeling behind the horse, Melodie said I did not want to be up there. Melodie has always been the "brave one". I am so glad to have these, so glad Mom saved everything, and made our lives fun. Except for having to eat my peas, or I'd face them for breakfast, and I never had peas for breakfast, and I "still" don't like them. I'm the "stubborn one".
I talked to Melodie about this last evening, and we wondered if the picture pony people were only on the west coast, where we lived, or was this a nation wide thing,,,like the musical ice cream trucks . I would like to know if anyone had the same experience with these door to door salesmen. Write and let me know.

Some day I will tell the story, I will have to get a photo of him one day. I doubt if it was bravery, pure reflective energy/aura from my being, the reflection blinded him. HaHa too kewl.
Love Ya *Q*

I'm in St Louis and I have a copy of both my mom in the 40's and my day in the 30's on a pony. I just love these pictures. So no it wasn't only on the west coast.

Aww this post gave me goose bumps!
YES YES YES...back in the 60s they did this here in Michigan! The traveling photography with his pony!
Hubby and I both grew up in the same neighborhood so our parents both have pictures of us on the same pony!
I am going to call my mum and mother in law and ask for those pictures!

Thank you for the fond memory!

In my hallway, in a family collage, I have a picture of my hubby when he was about 5 almost on the same pony as you. He lived in Dayton Ohio at the time...
Aren't they precious!
