I got these at an estate sale over a year ago, and I haven't been able to find out what they are. I wonder if any of you might know. The wood is a hardwood, and they are heavy, with a hole in each. Something to do with theaters?????
I was going to say they look like some kind of weights, but to what I haven't a clue. Perhaps, as you thought, they are related to curtains on a theater set - being numbered would make sense. 'Lower one, raise two, etc. '
They sure are interesting looking. Hopefully someone else will have more information.
I have no idea what those are, but I look forward to finding out! Hopefully one of your readers will know. They are beautiful though. I love the numbers.
I'm pretty sure they are theater curtain weights...in any case they are absolutely awesome looking. Stumbled upon your blog and it's just peachy keen...lol
Sorry I haven't a clue either but I just love them to death! How different and so vintage-y! Great find and I hope you find out what they are. If you do, please do a special post about them...they are much deserving of one! everything vintage
Weights is a good one. Some kind spools maybe? Vintage wooden things are so cool. I have a basketful of wooden spools, not sure what I will do with them but I like the conversation pieces. Blessings, Linda
Hi... I don't know what they are but when I first viewed them ... my first thought was some kind of weaving bobbins... Just don't know but someone hopefully will tell you. They are interesting...
Sorry, I don't know what they are either...I've never seen anything like them. They sure are awesome though! You'll have to let us know what you do with them! ~Lori
Thank you all for your comments! I haven't given up. I'm too curious for my own good. Another thing I was thinking,,,there used to be cotton mills that closed here, and I know thats a strech, but maby they were part of that operation..humm..well, I will be sure to let you know if I find out. Marcie

Hmm... I tend to agree about the theater curtain weights, though I'm not positive. They are really cool! What do you think you'll use them for?
